What 10 fashion lessons we have learned from Kate Middleton.

What has Princess Kate taught us about fashion?

1. Hats are the best accessory! 

She loves her hats but it is customary that if she is at a Royal Duty she must wear a hat. She must wear a hat at all Royal functions.

Also needs to walk 2 steps behind Prince William.

I love wearing a hat when I am having a bad hair day.. with short hair it is a little hard since you don't want to look like a boy.

2. Don't Dress older.. Well beyond your years.

What does that mean? I also think don't wear fashion meant for kids. I love it when I see a 70 year old women with gray hair wearing LOVE PINK sweatshirt! LOL

Ok back to Kate. Being a Royal sometimes you need to dress boring or fashion that is more suited for a queen. She now chooses items to go with her youthful style. 

3. It is ok to wear a outfit more then once.

I have a hard time with this one but I have learned from her that take a outfit and put a new pump with it or add a belt. Wear bold jewelry. Take the outfit to a new level.

4. Good Fashion does not mean a lot of $$$

Of course she can afford anything she wants but she is savvy like me. Why would I pay for something that I am not getting the most out of my money.

She has known to wear styles that us commoners can afford! The day after her wedding she wore a ZARA dress.

It was a rumor she shops on Reiss , Topshop and warehouse.

She met Michelle Obama in a $350 Reiss dress. This caused so much buzz that the website crashed and sold out immediately.

Kate also bought 3 dresses and a blouse for $350 before her wedding. It is nice to know that she values the dollar. Even though I can afford it I would never pay full price for a item! NEVER...

 This dress was worn to White House to meet Michelle Obama.. $350 dress was available to the public!

5.Wear 2 wedding gowns if you are undecided.

Not sure if I agree with this but most brides are doing this now!

Go for the traditional look for the ceremony and then for the party wear something a little more daring. Though she wore a elegant Satin A line dress and added a crop angora sweater.

6.Navy is the new black. 

I remember when her and William were engaged and that Navy Wrap Dress she wore was stunning. Everything in that style sold out immediately. Old Navy had a dress that was called Royal Navy.

She had a gorgeous Lace Navy Dress.

7.USE a Tailor!!!

Get pieces altered to fit you! We don't have the perfect figure and we shy away from items that don't fit us right. Tailor can fix this.

8. Sheer Hosiery

This is practical and Chic!

Wear hose that matches you skin!  I love the summer when I don't need to wear hose but I can get a tan and it looks great!

9.Less is not always more

Before Prince William.. She wore a risque piece that was meant to be a blouse and she turned this into a dress and her undergarments were visible. I am sure she wishes she could burn that photo.

10.Be true to your own style! 

Trends come and go! You can add pieces to your style that are trendy. There are so many variations of trends that it works well. I would love to help anyone.

She sticks to her own style with sometimes not spending the money!

She styled her hair and makeup on her wedding day. She also opts occasionally to pick her own clothing out. This is a true peoples princess.

We have our own Princess! I personally think our own Monica Day for NBC news looks simialr to her... She has style and is so down to earth!

Cashmere Sweater!

This is worth the investment!

This looks so elegant and stylish and has been for years!

I have a few colors that I love! A long time ago I bought a well made cashmere sweater in gray and still have it and it remains my favorite sweater!

Some people think oh Cashmere is for he fall, Winter or Holiday.

This is a fabric that does breathe and several designers do make a short sleeve style for that reason. This may be the only sweater that you can wear to the office and then pair it with jeans for a night out. I am headed to Nashville this weekend and I will bring a red scoop neck and a Gray hooded sweater that I can dress up or down!

I do recommend buying a good one. This way you will have it for years and think of the resell value. I have a friend who is also a fellow hockey mom that is always so put together! I do get a lot of ideas by putting outfits together. I was in a store in the mall that I wanted a these jeans. Light Denim with Orange and Gold Embellishment on the pockets. I did not like what the store had paired with them and searched and searched... I found a cute Orange Sleeveless top that was orange chiffon and had gold embellishment. It so happened that the district manager was behind the counter when I was about to pay and she was floored that I was able to put that together with not a blink of an eye.

She offered me a position with the company right there. I then knew that I needed to do this again! My sister recommended that I was so good at this! Earlier this year.. well actually Dec 31st I had a women contact me that she needed help wearing something that evening. I brought her a few things and suggestions and she bought them from me and was so happy that she hugged me!

I felt so proud of the gift I was given. Some people may not think so but this is my job!

What did the Grammy's show us about fashion for spring

The award shows in later winter show us a lot about fashion going forward! I love watching to See what is a trend because after all the big designers set the hot items for the season ahead!

My Favorite!!

It looks like lace was a big hit. Look at Beyonce she looks great in this black lace gown! I told you lace would be big! I was in Miejer the other day grocery shopping and they had a pink lace dress for spring!!! 

The hot colors were black but black is always in style!

Pink was big on the red carpet as well as Sparkle and cut outs

I can't wait until the Oscars! This is true fashion show.

Fashion Must Haves Worth the Investment! Leather Motorcycle Jacket #6 or MOtto

Motorcycle Jacket

I love the look but I know they also call this a motto jacket as well. I have seen a leather or faux leather jacket that has a cascade front. I think everyone needs this type of Jacket. I have a Bradley Bayou Green and Orange Leather Motorcycle jacket. Pictures below. I know some people think of a motorcycle jacket as bulky. Not something you can dress up.

The NUDE Pump!

This is a great investment! I love this because it can go with everything! Since I am a shoe person like most women I have a nude flat. I don't wear a pump because of my knee problems but I even love my nude flat! 

Now nude does not have to be that beige shoe. Make sure the shoe matches your skin tone. This color is getting to be a must have just like the black pump. This shoe can be dressed up or down! Wear a flat with your favorite jeans. If you do want to get that slimming style then go with a heel. Can't wear a heel then opt for one that has a wedge base.

So where did we get this from? Yes from Princess Kate! She starts trends because she is so Elegant. Anyone that knows me I am a huge fan of the Princess!

There are do's and don'ts. Never wear a color that is 2 shades darker then you flesh color. I will have more on this tomorrow!

Jimmie JOHNSON NASCAR... GAP Model

Jimmie Johnson.. New face of GAP..

I know... I thought of the same thing :) How can Jimmie Johnson be the face of GAP? I am one of those people that do not watch NASCAR.. Please no offense but I can not spend hours of my day watching cars go in a circle. That is just not me! I know that the fans are die hard fans and are very passionate.

So lets talk about this! 

GAP has name Jimmie Johnson the ambassador for GAP.

This is for the Spring 2015 season and this is the more casual line for GAP. Must say he is not bad to look at!

From what I see.. he is a all American guy with great values! He really shows what men should look like in 2015! I know some of the models don't really fit the Normal America. Just like Sports Illustrated to feature the first plus size model in the swimsuit model magazine. Really a 12? She wore a bikini and was 1 month pregnant!

GAP I feel has stepped up in this direction by going with this all American NASCAR racer that is loved by so many.

GAP is moving forward with print ads, social media and visual presentations in 350 Gap Factory Stores.

The ads will feature Jimmie Johnson as well as his wife Chandra. 

GAP will also be partnering with Jimmie Johnson foundation on several programs throughout the campaign.

The only thing is why only in Gap Factory Stores?

Fashion Investment #4 cigarette pants and What are they?

Cigarette Pant!

The first think is what is a cigarette pant? I have hear this in the fashion world for the past 10 years. So this is worth spending the money on this trend that does not seem to go away!

Cigarette pant is a slim pant with a opening on the bottom instead of a tapered Leg. You may hear they called "stovepipe pants" "pencil pants" These pants became popular in the 1950's in women and men's fashions!

They became popular when Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley wore these pants. I love these pants. I would recommend a black or white pant and a Denim Cropped pant. If I had to invest in one it depends on the occupation but I would do the Black for a office Chic look. These are a great pair of pants if you have a small waist and big hips. NO Spanx here... These give great coverage and a slimming look!!!
